Welcome to the Hop!

COFFIN HOP is the annual Horror Author event, geared towards gaining exposure for indie horror and genre authors, and increasing interaction with fans and readers. Conceived in 2011 by authors Axel Howerton and Julie Jansen, COFFIN HOP was initially intended to be a small answer to the proliferation of author blog hops for Romance, Erotica and other genres while noticing a dearth of well-organized, high profile events for horror writers.

The first annual COFFIN HOP bloomed to over 100 authors and brought in thousands of readers and fans over the week leading up to Halloween. Every one of those 100 authors held contests, gave away e-books, paperbacks, prize packages, autographed copies, toys, personalized writings, videos, themed jewellery, movie posters… the list goes on and on and on.

In 2012, in association with Coffin Hop Press, we released a charity anthology to benefit the worlwide childrens literacy program at www.litworld.org. Exclusive to our collection COFFIN HOP: DEATH BY DRIVE-IN are stories from C.W LaSart (Ad Nauseum), Red Tash (Troll or Derby, This Brilliant Darkness), Jessica McHugh (Rabbits in the Garden, Torn Realities), Dan Dillard (Demons and Other Inconveniences), Erik Gustafson (Fall Leaves and the Black Dragon) and many more.  Mad B-Movie tales of Drive-In derivation, including: Brains from Space! Robot Squids Gone Wild! Radioactive Microwave Men! Monster Mash Massacres! Crotch Tentacles! Pinterest-loving Werewolves! Vampire Seduction! Man-eating Toilet! Robot Lincoln & Zombie Jackson! Interior art by Nicolas Caesar! Foreword by Stink of Flesh director Scott S. Phillips! Cover by Liz Howerton Photography and www.eyecravepro.ca

2013 saw Coffin Hop become its biggest yet, with nearly 200 authors and artists involved in the week-long trail of terror! 2014 looks to be even bigger and better than ever!

Curious, asked this last year also. How can book bloggers get involved, contribute support and even possibly be part of this event? I know author friends were absolutely blown away with how great it was! I followed but was still somewhat new to the world of indie support. Now I am not a newbie and would love to, other than JUST buying merchandise and sharing about it, be involved.

Once we have the book finalized in the next few weeks, we will be opening our Facebook group to anyone who wants to be involved in the hop. Basically, as long as you agree to promote the authors in the hop and the Coffin Hop anthology, and are in some way “horror” centric for that one week in October, you will be welcome to be involved and included on our link list for the event.

As soon as possible, I’m sure. Deadline is this Sunday, so by end of July I can have the contents finalized, the cover and preface underway, and be working on the “supplementary materials”. Hopefully by the end of August, we’ll have a sample ARC for reviewers.

Sorry, I feel I should clarify. You said book bloggers would need to promote the book, so I was just stating for those like AK Mamma who want to be involved–reviewing the book during the Hop would be a lovely thing to do to promote the Hop.
